NewslettersThe purpose of the quarterly newsletters is to share information about significant geospatial transportation news, events, and applications. Each issue will highlight a specific application of GIS or geospatial data and technology from a State Department of Transportation (DOT), metropolitan planning organization (MPO), or other transportation agency. The newsletters will distribute useful and informative stories on transportation agencies' efforts to develop and implement geospatial technologies. The intended audience for the newsletters will be planners at State DOTs, MPOs, and other transportation agencies. The newsletters assume that there will be a diversity of GIS experience and skill level in the audience. FHWA has recently taken an active role in promoting GIS and geospatial technologies through courses, workshops, webcasts, and now through the quarterly newsletter. FHWA encourages State DOTs, MPOs, and others to exchange their knowledge of geospatial technologies and their experiences with using them. In addition to providing support for GIS activities, FHWA is seeking champions to share their GIS knowledge, information about new data and analysis tools, and innovative applications.
